MENTAL ILLNESS CAN AFFECT ANYONE AT ANY TIME
We all can be exposed to stressors in life which can lead to us experiencing mental distress. Grief, work, money issues, relationship break downs, ill health and accidents can happen at any time. TASK aim to support teams and individuals to support there colleagues, friends, whanau and wider communities.
“What most people want to do is live as independently as possible, stay in their own homes and do things that are meaningful to them and connect with their people.”

There are many amazing clinicians working in an under-resourced and over-managed care industry climate. Services seem disconnected.
As a consultancy service TASK can create a training programme for your personal needs.
Care teams and institutions can struggle with providing the right care for people they support. Carers can feel bogged down with the day to day management of high and complex individuals. They can miss work days, feel distressed and unconnected from their work and often leave. All this can have a negative impact for employer, worker and those they support. ACC and other audit-able requirements of the work place will automatically tick all the boxes with TASK undertaking risk plans, behavioural programmes, team building and supervision. Follow up work can also be undertaken.
The key to TASK involvement will be a good measure of compassion and empathy for the situation in hand and at the same time maintain appropriate professionalism.
- TASK aim to create bridges and create links to support people suffering mental distress. People need to get the support when they need it and in a timely fashion. We aim to compliment and strengthen this work force.
- TASK believe in client centred approaches. This means the person we are supporting is the expert on them.
- TASK have extensive knowledge of the sector and how to work through a maze of services.
- TASK are focused on brokering services for people when possible and are willing to support and set up systems to support holistic good living.
- TASK aim to do for care services what 'Uber' did for taxis and Air BnB did for accommodation - over haul the current model and bring it into a new improved future to meet people's needs.
- TASK aim to allow assessments to be completed within a few days and offer timely support.

Matthew has worked as a nurse for 30 plus years in mental health and intellectual disability. He has a IDCCR Act care manager diploma and has completed three post graduate papers. He has been integral into the planning of and restyling of both new and existing services in the care sector. When he isn't nursing, he enjoys mountain biking, live music and gardening. He is also a musician and free style rapper. Over 4000 people all over NZ have been attending sessions in the last 4 years. Under the TASK umbrella he works closely with local community, MSD, non-government agencies, corporate businesses, schools, universities and polytechnics. "I started work as a nurse clinician over 30 years ago. I was hopeful for a career in a service which met the needs of those I wished to support. Unfortunately, I now believe that bureaucracy and red tape has created an environment of smoke and mirrors. This is resulting in people not being able to access services quickly enough. Some times not at all. It is common for me to hear phrases such as: "Who can help me?" "What services and resources can I access?" "What do I need to do to get help?" "I feel I have to be at rock bottom to get the supports I need". I am driven to help people negate the maze that is the current care and support system. I realise that when teams and individuals are given the skills, knowledge and support they need then they will be more likely to flourish." |
