This course is presented in a light hearted and engaging way with examples from real life to support learning.
How to manage and support people with mental and physical health issues @ work
The cost of mental illness for work places is well documented. TASK as a consultant can undertake work around mental health first aid. It will support and provide skills for organisations and their employees to deal with anxiety and depression, trauma, self harm and addictions. Training people will allow them to develop knowledge and awareness of mental distress and support each other. This will strengthen team resilience and trust. Evidence shows that mental health first aid can reduce sick days and strengthen whanau and communities.
The World Health Organisation says:
"A healthy workplace is one in which workers and managers collaborate to use a continual improvement process to protect and promote the health, safety and well-being of workers and the sustainability of the workplace by considering the following, based on identified needs:
Educational Classes - for the wider community
TASK can organise both small and larger training environments. These can incorporate diagnosis criteria, lived experiences and routes to wellness. TASK believe that the best person to be an expert on recovery is some one with lived experience. Through dialogue and exploration of ideas. TASK aim to make people the expert on themselves.
TASK have a wide array of assessment tools at their disposal. We believe assessment is the key to all good recovery based care plans. Mood charts, anxiety and depression measurement scales tailored to individual needs.
(Behavioural charts such as ABC, functional analysis, reinforcer indicators and risk assessment)
Including but not limited to:
TASK are also able to complete alcohol and other drug assessments.
TASK believe all care is based on adequate assessment.
Solutions & Appropriate Support
PEOPLE NEEDING SUPPORT with or without family involvement
Sometimes people can't find what they need to get well or often fall through the cracks of an already over loaded mental health system. TASK is trying to fill these gaps. They can guide people to existing services, offer new solutions or support people as an advocate at doctors and other clinician meetings. TASK offer clinical support by nurses. TASK believe that lived experience of mental distress is essential when supporting people in their recovery journey.
INTELLECTUAL DISABILITY AND MENTAL HEALTH
TASK accept that there is some times a correlation between a persons mental health and their intellectual functioning. This leads to the term dual diagnosis when supporting some one with an Intellectual Disability. We offer training around these two conditions and can create a learning environment taking into account the client, a well written assessment and observations of people around them.
TASK are experienced in supporting and assessing people with a diagnosis on the spectrum of Autism. We are also able to create creative support plans and relapse plans.
TASK have 25 years experience in supporting people with an Intellectual disability who may present with behaviours that can challenge services and carers alike. Using reinforcement schedules, task analysis, behavioural modification techniques and kindness.
TASK accepts that health issues, sexuality, boredom and communication can all exacerbate existing behavioural issues and so we will endeavour to think out side the box and minimise using tried and tested methods. TASK have a very high success rate of high and complex client support and will bring a wealth of knowledge to any one they work with.
CLIENT-LED INTEGRATED CARE (CLIC). G.P SUPPORT
TASK employs registered mental health nurses who are skilled in completing relapse plans with identified clients requiring mental health support. As you will be aware that many clients do not meet criteria for clinical input but, learning about their distress, discovering early warning signs, triggers and what works for them is an important part of recovery. TASK provide this service.
TASK support any services offered by Brief Intervention Primary Mental Health Services. Unfortunately this may take up to ten weeks. However, TASK can take referrals within a week of a request being made. This approach will certainly increase the chances of a person’s resilience and recovery.
TASK specialise in supporting people to make person centred safety and relapse plans with co-existing problems, anxiety, depression, mood disorder, self harm, psychosis and intellectual disability.
Relapse plans and knowledge provision are seen as a first line defence against any mental illness which can have a long-term impact on a person’s life.
We are focused on helping patients with the highest needs get the support they need. Patients would have up to a 90 minute assessment with a TASK nurse. It would be client centred and supported with empathy and offer new ideas on well being. This would be good use of the money that clients have available to them through CLIC.
